A man who laced sweets with tranquilliser and distributed them to children at a summer program in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual crimes against two children who were nine and ten years old.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight minors and a grown-up fell ill at Stathern Lodge in July.
The elderly man, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the judicial center on Friday.
Yet, he refused to admit one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
The accused was kept in jail ahead of a subsequent court date on 28 November.
'Sweet game'
The legal representative, prosecuting, described Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She explained his victims were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a summer camp which he operated.
The defendant conducted a "candy game" with the minors, the legal counsel said, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were settling down and ask them to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She told the court Ruben had conducted this practice with the boys "repeatedly", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the following morning.
She explained the man had been capable of justifying this for many years as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had concerns in recently.
Mrs Prior KC added: "In the summer" his stepchild had concerns about the activities, for good reason.
"They chose" to investigate in the defendant's belongings."
The prosecutor explained objects including baby oil, petroleum jelly and syringes were discovered, and his stepson contacted the authorities about his worries.
She said the man continued to conduct the "sweet game" with six boys that time - July 26th - and they were all sick the following morning.
"Authorities" had not arrived by that stage," she added.
The regulatory agency, the investigative body, previously told that it was reviewing law enforcement's management of the incident.
The prosecutor explained the minors were struggling to walk due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson contacted the law enforcement again.
She explained the man then played the "candy game" in a area of five youngsters.
